Oryantal Dansi has been together since 2005. Starting at Highland High with a handful of talented girls, the troup has progressed to a continually evolving group of astounding young women who perform and host numerous dance shows such as:

-The Halloween Spooktacular
-Spring Shimmy
-Thia's Halloween Bash
-Spring Fest
-Meeting of the Tribes
-Kashmir's Trouble with Tribal
-Night at The Casbah
-Midsummer Renaissance Faire
-Kismet Bellydance Festival
-Earth Jam

to name a few. Oryantal Dansi performs all styles of bellydance, including live music, and has been lucky enough to have been graced by the presence of countless other beautiful dancers.

Amina

Amina studied modern dance with Kathryn Majors and Virginia Tanner's Dance Center before discovering her love for Bellydance. She is inspirational, articulated and and a highly educated instructor. She has enchanted audiences and mentored studens; performing and teaching at festivals, workshops and seminars through out her dance profession. She has travele and studied with legendary masters of dance, honing, expanding skills and abilities that enhance her dance style.  She is soulful and heartfelt in her performances.

 

Her stylized training includes classic Raks Sharki, Armenian, Turkish,  Tunisian, Zambra Mora, Ghawazii, Folk, Debke, Berber, and Khalleegy. She is Teacher Certified in American Tribal style and achieved Sister Studio Status to Fat Chance Bellydance and now a partner with the Davina Tribal Collective

Shazia

Shazia

Shazia began belly dancing in 1994 but comes from a strong dance background in which she exceled in many different styles.  She was a proud member or the Kismet Dance Company before creating her own Scimitar Dance Company.  She has taught workshops in Utah, Colorado, and Idaho and loves watching beginning dancers progress.  Shazia loves the freedom of belly dancing and believes "dance is an expression of the soul".

Leyla

Leyla loves the middle eastern arts and has studied many types of dances styles. She teaches a variety of styles; Cabaret, Fusion and Folkloric as well as Bollywood. Classes are held in Farr West (Ogden area) on Saturdays.

Currently teaching beginning through advanced classes, director of Desert Orchid Dance Company, and the performing group Sahara Dreams, Zahirah’s addiction to dance began at age 4 with classical ballet training.

        Performing, entertaining, soloing, teaching not only about the Middle Eastern dances but also about the cultures of the countries they come from, Zahirah has been studying, and teaching these dances for over three decades.

        With her wealth of experience you transform into the dancer who performs on stages, in hookah lounges, at festivals, and in restaurants; or perform in the privacy of your own living room.

Desert Journey School of Dance


AMANI is an intermediate level ethno-fusion belly dance group who loves to add props, such as finger cymbals and veils, to their performances.  Amani enjoys all forms of belly dance along with a little modern kick to their style.  
 
SEKMET is an advanced level performing group, who has been incorporating traditional and fusion movement into their dance since 2001. Troupe Sekmet has been dazzling audiences with a wide range of dance abilities, fusing in modern style and cabaret hints into their dance.
 
ASUDA is an intermediate-advanced level Cabaret performing group, taught by Naomi, as part of the Desert Journey School of Dance. They bring sparkle and pizzazz to the stage with their Lebonese signatures.  Their dazzling costuming and smiles only adds to their beautiful performance!
 
AMAYA is a new cabaret performing group, making their way to the Masonic Temple for the first time.  Amaya fuses Lebonese Cabaret with traditional cabaret movement to lure you in.  This high energy group will catch your eye with their floating veils and unique choreography.

Flying Bellies Fusion Arts

Flying Bellies Fusion Arts is proud to be one of Salt Lake City's first fusion belly dance groups.  Flying Bellies was started in 2003 by Annwvyn and Safira while studying with Kismet.  The duet took a few years to concentrate on other life activies and dancing styles, but are now back for your fusion pleasure.

Flying Bellies concentrates on the fusion between belly dance any other dance form that comes to the team. Annwvyn and Safira have over 30 years dance experience between the two of them. Both dancers have a strong backgrounds in ballet, belly dance and various other dance styles.  The team strives for continual improvement and is interested in providing original performances that are enjoyable to all audiences.

Shamsa formed Troupe Tarab in 2009 as a way to experiment with and pursue the art of belly dance choreography.  A classical pianist with a Bachelor of Music, she combines her passion for music and rhythm with her love of dance to create her own style.  With Stephen on the doumbek, they both compose the rhythm and choreography structure of the drum dances together.
